 Admissions
Nursery
We are able to invite children to start on their third birthday to our Nursery. The Nursery department is entirely self-sufficient and offers a safe and exciting learning environment which includes an outdoor play area where children are able to uses larger equipment to develop their skills.
For those children who wish to stay on in school for the afternoon “Child’s Play @ Whitestone” provide wraparound care. Children may start attending this care facility when they are 21⁄2 years of age specifications.
Reception
Parents are invited to apply for a full time place in our Reception class during the Spring term prior to their entry via the Local Authority.
The Local Authority has the responsibility of admitting pupils in any year group up to the planned admission limit which is 27. If there are more admission placement requests than places available, the following priority will apply:
1. Children who are in the care of the Local Authority (LAC)
2. Children who live within the school’s defined catchment area.
3. Children who have a brother or sister attending the school at the date of their admission.
4. Children attending a designated feeder school but who live outside the catchment area.
5. Other children for whom a place has been requested for whom criteria 1 to 4 above do not apply.
Transition
We have an excellent relationship with our partner secondary school, Bishop Gore Comprehensive School, to ensure a smooth transition for pupils between the different phases of education. Where children choose to attend other Secondary Schools, similar processes are in place to ensure the same transitional opportunities and experiences are afforded to all.
