   Daearyddiaeth
Pam astudio Daearyddiaeth?
Mae Daearyddiaeth yn chwarae rôl hanfodol yn y 21ain Ganrif; mae’n ein galluogi i ddatblygu dealltwriaeth o’r materion cymleth sy’n effeithio ein bywydau gan gynnwys newid hinsawdd, tlodi ac amddifadedd, pwer economaidd a’r defnydd cynaliadwy o adnoddau. Gall cymhwyster mewn Daearyddiaeth ddatblygu ystod eang o sgiliau ac ehangu dealltwriaeth byddai’n agor drysau i amrywiaeth o swyddi. Yn draddodiadol, graddedigion Daearyddiaeth yw’r graddedigion mwyaf cyflogadwy.
Beth yw cynnwys y cwrs?
Ym Mlwyddyn 12, mae’r pwyslais ar amgylcheddau arfordirol a pheryglon tectonig. Bydd myfyrwyr yn datblygu dealltwriaeth o’r rhyngweithiadau cymleth rhwng y byd ffisegol a’r byd dynol. Caiff y disgyblion gyfle i gwblhau gwaith maes ffisegol a dynol fel rhan o’r ail uned, yn ogystal ag astudio newidiadau yn yr amgylchedd ddynol. Wrth symud ymlaen i Flwyddyn 13, caiff y disgyblion gyflwyniad i gyfres o themâu ffisegol a dynol mwy cymleth. Bydd Uned 3 yn canolbwyntio ar gylchredau dwr a charbon tra bydd ‘Rheolaeth Fyd-Eang’ yn canolbwyntio ar batrymau mudo a rheolaeth cefnforoedd. Yn ogystal, bydd cyfle i’r myfyrwyr astudio y sialensau sydd yn wynebu poblogaeth y byd yn y 21ain Ganrif.
Why study Geography?
Geography has a vital role in the 21st Century as it develops an understanding of the complex issues that we face in our lives such as climate change, poverty and deprivation, global shifts in economic power and the challenge of sustainable resource use. A qualification in Geography develops the breadth of knowledge and the diversity of skills that will enable you to consider a wide range of careers including: water resource management, meteorology, planning and environmental impact assessment. Traditionally Geography graduates are the most employable of all graduates.
What is the course content?
At AS level the emphasis in Unit 1 is upon the dynamic systems of coastal and tectonic landscapes. Students will develop their understanding of the complex interactions between the physical and human world. Unit 2 focuses on the changes to human environment and provides pupils with the opportunity to carry out fieldwork in both physical and human environments. In progressing to A2 students are introduced to a selection of more complex topics that are at the heart of both physical and human Geography. The study of ‘Global Systems’ will be focused on the Water and Carbon Cycles whereas ‘Global Governance’ will be focused on the patterns of global migration and the governance of the Earth’s oceans. Students will also have the opportunity to specialise in the challenges faced by the world’s population in the 21st Century.
