Pam astudio Seicoleg?
• Mae astudio Lefel A Seicoleg yn galluogi myfyrwyr i ddatblygu dealltwriaeth o’r natur ddynol mewn nifer o feysydd cymdeithasol gan drafod materion cyfoes, diddorol, heriol a sensitif.
• Mae’r cwrs yn caniatau i fyfyrwyr ddatblygu sgiliau arbennig ar gyfer amrywiaeth eang o yrfaoedd megis meddygaeth, y gyfraith, newyddiaduraeth, dysgu, cwnsela, chwaraeon, busnes a masnach a mwy.
• Mae Seicoleg yn cael ei gydnabod fel pwnc delfrydol sydd yn cyfuno’n wych gyda phob cwrs Safon Uwch arall mewn meysydd gwyddoniaeth, dyniaethau, neu gelfyddydau am ei fod yn bwnc sydd yn trafod testunau amrywiol iawn.
• Mae’r cwrs yn gofyn i fyfyrwyr i ymchwilio gwaith seicolegwyr fforensig, clinigol, abnormal, a chymdeithasol sydd yn ceisio helpu pobl sydd gyda phroblemau amrywiol – testunau newydd a chyffrous.
• Mae llawer o gyflogwyr yn ffafrio myfyrwyr sydd â chefndir mewn Seicoleg oherwydd y safon o sgiliau llythrennedd, rhifedd, dadansoddi ac arfarnu critigol a meddwl athonyddol sydd yn rhan o’r cwrs Safon Uwch.
Beth yw cynnwys y cwrs?
Defnyddir amrywiaeth o ddulliau dysgu - gwersi traddodiadol, ymchwil ymarferol, seminarau, astudio annibynnol a gwaith grŵp, darlithoedd gan siaradwyr gwadd, gwersi rhyngweithiol gan ddefnyddio Technoleg Gwybodaeth, ymweliadau â lleoedd o ddiddordeb, Diwrnod Iechyd Meddwl, darllen ffynonellau amrywiol: erthyglau, adroddiadau ymchwil seicolegol, gwerslyfrau. Dylid ennill gradd B neu uwch yn TGAU Mathemateg a Saesneg, Gwyddoniaeth a Chymraeg.

Why study Psychology?
• Psychology is the study of human nature this course investigates underlying biological and social mechanisms that drive behaviour, exploring challenging and sensitive issues that face society today.
• The course develops a range of skills applicable to a wide variety of careers in medicine, law, journalism, education, counselling, sport, business and industry.
• Psychology is considered an ideal subject which combines excellently with all other A level courses – Science based or Arts based – due to the biological, research, and socio- cultural elements of the course.
• The course requires students to learn about new and exciting research conducted by psychologists in the following fields: Forensic, Clinical, Sport, Social and Abnormal – research which has been conducted to help people with difficulties and to improve social conditions. There is a particular focus on understanding the causes of schizophrenia and autism during year 13, exploring possible genetic, cognitive, and social-psychological links.
• Many employers favour students with a background in Psychology because of the standards of literacy, numeracy, analysis, problem solving,critical thinking, philosophical and ethical consideration which is acquired in the course.
What is the course content?
A variety of teaching methods are used: traditional teacher led lessons, practical investigations, seminars, group work, independent study, guest lectures, visits to psychology related institutions, World Mental Health Day, Swansea Crown Court, video conferencing with UWIC, reading and research of various materials: psychological articles and research reports. A ‘B’ grade in GCSE Maths, English, Science and Welsh is required.
