Llenyddiaeth Saesneg
Pam astudio Llenyddiaeth Saesneg?
• Dyma gyfle i fyfyrwyr brofi eu hunigoliaeth a dangos eu gallu i feddwl yn amgenach na’r arferol.
• Mae dilyn cwrs Llenyddiaeth Saesneg yn baratoad cymwys ar gyfer amrywiaeth o gyrsiau Addysg Bellach ac Uwch ac yn cael ei ystyried yn ddisgyblaeth academaidd gwerthfawr.
• Gellir cyfuno Llenyddiaeth Saesneg gydag unrhyw bwnc arall. Gallai hyn arwain at ystod o yrfau a chyrsiau prifysgol, er enghraifft Newyddiadureg, Y Gyfraith, Busnes, TGCh ac Addysg. Gall cyfuno Llenyddiaeth Saesneg gyda phynciau fel y Gwyddorau arwain at gwrs Meddygaeth, lle rhoddir pwyslais ar ehangder diddordebau y tu allan i faes Gwyddoniaeth.
Beth yw cynnwys y cwrs?
Astudir ystod eang iawn o lenyddiaeth ac anogir y myfyrwyr i ddilyn eu diddordebau llenyddol personol ar gyfer Uned 5. Mae’r bwrdd arholi yn awyddus iawn i fyfyrwyr sy’n dilyn y cwrs i “ddatblygu diddordeb a mwynhad mewn llenyddiaeth trwy ddarllen yn eang ac yn annibynnol”. Y myfyriwr fydd yn gosod yr agenda – mae hwn yn gwrs cyffrous sy’n disgwyl i fyfyrwyr i fod yn gyfrifol am eu cynnydd, i fod yn gydweithredwyr gyda’r athrawon. Bydd cyfleoedd allgyrsiol amrywiol ar gael i’r myfyrwyr gan gynnwys ymweliadau â theatrau a sesiynau ysgrifennu creadigol gydag awduron a beirdd.
Why study English Literature?
• This is an opportunity for students to prove their individuality and to demonstrate their capacity for original and creative thought.
• An English Literature course is an ideal preparation for a variety of Further and Higher Education courses and is considered a valuable academic discipline.
• English Literature can be combined with any other subject and would provide a route to a number of university courses and careers, for example Journalism, Law, Business, ICT and Education. Combining English Literature with the sciences could lead to a degree in medicine, which often requires students to demonstrate interests beyond science.
What is the course content?
A wide range of literature will be studied and students will be encouraged to pursue their own literary interests for the Unit 5 element of the course. The examination board wishes to encourage students following the course to “develop their interest and enjoyment of literature through reading widely and independently”.Students will set their own agenda; this is an exciting course which requires students to be responsible for their progress and to be collaborators with the teachers. Students will have many extra-curricular opportunities such as theatre visits and lectures by writers and poets.
